In the second story of our spinal revision surgery series, we meet Ms. Tsai from Nantou. After a slip disc surgery in 2022, complications likely caused by screws pressing against nerves left her in unbearable pain, even struggling to walk. Feeling hopeless, she almost gave up until a neighbor recommended the Spinal Surgery Center at Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital. Holding onto a sliver of hope, she sought help from the team. After careful evaluation, the doctors performed a retroperitoneal (posterior abdominal) surgery, avoiding severely adhesive areas and repositioning the screws. Now, Ms. Tsai is back to her daily life, tending to her vegetable garden, planting and watering with ease.
